Beginning with a parade downtown of current & antique fire trucks, activities start at 9 am. Fire Fest takes place at Camden City Arena, 420 Broad St. until 1 pm. This family friendly event allows residents and visitors learn about the importance of fire prevention and fire safety while enjoying live firefighting demonstrations and competitions, as well as a live burn to show the basics of outdoor grill safety, getting up close and personal with antique fire trucks, and engaging in other live entertainment and games for all age. This will be an all-day event as the museum will pose approximately 40 of its motorized antique apparatus properly positioned in the sun with ample time for everyone to photograph each rig. Most of these apparatus never leave the Museum. To keep the photo line moving we will provide all apparatus info (year, make, pump, tank, aerial, & serial #) to photographers via e-mail following the event. The museum is a 501C3 Non-Profit organization. We are asking photographers for a tax-deductible donation to the Museum of $40 (cash or check) to attend this event to be paid at the Museum on the day of the event. This donation will provide coffee and donuts on arrival, allow you to photograph the museum's apparatus in the morning, followed by an all-you-can-eat lunch, then an afternoon of shooting additional local area apparatus that will be brought to the museum. The New Jersey Fire Museum is located at 4 Polhemustown Road in Allentown, NJ. The museum maintains a large collection of hand-drawn, horse-drawn and motorized apparatus, as well as a large collection of fire apparatus models, helmets, frontpieces, photos, and other fire service memorabilia. It is also home to the New Jersey Fallen Firefighters Memorial as well as a gift shop. Parking is across the street opposite the museum. Photographer orientation will take place at 8:45 AM. The Silent Parade will start in Hinsdale and then travel west on Chicago Avenue through Westmont. The route then continues on Naperville Road and eventually ends in Lisle.
