2018 marks the 250th Anniv., of the Portland Fire Department and the 55th Annual Maine State Federation of Firefighters 
Convention.  Please note: We have moved the muster site to a central and more suitable location, behind the Gulf of 
Maine Research Institute, 350 Commercial St.  This psace sits on the waterfront and is .4 miles from the Cross Insurance 
Arena.  All convention activities will be in downtown Portland and are in walking distance of each other.

        On September 22nd at 10:00 am over 100 fire Apparatus along marching units and floats will make their way down 

Congress St. in a spectacular parade celebrating the history of the fire service in Maine.

Line up will be on Spring St. outside the Cross Insurance Arena. Parade will go up Spring, making a right on High St. 
From there, it will proceed down Congress St. coming to end at Congress and Pearl St.

event and learn how West Metro Firefighters prepare for emergencies. Attendees get to see live fire demonstrations,

Compound, 2825 Fishtrap Loop NE, beginning at 10 am.  This Must Not Miss event is one of the club's annual highlights, 
and includes a lot of classic apparatus on display, many of which will be drafting from the family pond, a tour of their 
newly/nearly completed Fire Hall, and a fabulous spread offered by professional caterer Jen Foley. 
  Remember, this special event is for PNW Chapter SPAAMFAA members only. Others may also attend, but will be 
asked to fill out a membership form and pay the $15 dues for the balance of the year. Thank you for helping us make this 
event one of the special privileges for those members who have been faithful in their membership year after year.

The Independent Hose Co., No., 1 will be celebrating itís 200th Anniversary, 10 am - 4 pm.  We are the stateís oldest 
volunteer FC, formed in the mid 1700ís and reorganized in 1818.  Part of our celebration is a Firemenís Festival on 
September 29.  Rolling procession begins promptly at 10 am, from Independent Hose, 310 Baughmanís Lane.  Activities 
at Carroll Creek Park, in historic downtown Frederick. Admission is FREE.  Bucket brigade, hose lay and hose roll, 
Midnight Alarm, first water, hand pumpers, steam pumpers, firefighting activities for the kids and more.

30 September 2018 - York, Pennsylvania
5th Annual Fire Muster (The Bulldog Pound) & Flea Market.  Sponsored by the SPAAMFAA chapter White Rose Fire 
Preservation of York, PA. (Old Fire Farts) Cousler Park, 1060 Church Rd., 8 am - 4 pm.  This year the featured apparatus 
is Mack, but all types of apparatus are welcome. Judging at 9:15 am.  Macks will be judged separately and get special 
trophies.  Pumping contests (10 am) , kids corner (1 pm), firefighter challenge contest (9:30 am), flea market (8 am) and 
plenty of food trucks (8:30 am).  Awards 3 pm.
"Wing Eating Contest" at noon.  Enter the contest with a $5 donation to our Emergency Responders Scholarship Fund. 
You will get 10 wings to eat as fast as you can. The first person to finish all ten wings is the winner. We will have prizes 
for the 1st and 2nd place winners. Visit the Quaker Steak and Lube tent the day of the Muster by 11 am to sign up. 
All proceeds go to support the Preservation of Fire History in York County and to our First Responders Scholarship Grant.

There will not be a Trucktoberfest at the Mack Museum this year.  Event will now be held every two years. Next date is 
tentatively Fall of 2019.

Every October, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation sponsors the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, 
the official national tribute to those firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Last year, as part of 
this tribute, the Foundation created Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters to recognize the 25th anniversary of the National
Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend. As dusk turns to dark, landmarks

New Jersey Fire Museum & Fallen FF's Memorial is hosting its' 3rd Annual Open House, Location: 4 Polhemustown Rd.,
